Food Security and Livelihoods

CSP’s food security and livelihoods interventions support marginalized communities with particular focus on youth and women supporting their livelihoods diversification to pursue their enhanced economic empowerment and strengthened resiliency to better respond and adapt to disasters and shocks. CSP use a step-by-step approach supporting youth and women to build and nurture market-driven small scale enterprises. CSP provide trainings in core life-skills (e.g. leadership, teamwork, and communication) and entrepreneurial skills (e.g. business planning, networking and marketing etc.) using the existing/ newly developed community structures. Such trainings are preferably co-delivered with government and local entrepreneurs followed by rapid market assessment to identify market-driven enterprises. CSP has successfully completed technical vocational skills training project for women in district Neelum for the promotion of local handcraft of Pehran with funding support of USAID.

Adopting a community based food security and livelihood programming, CSP has successfully completed medium and small size projects funded by many donors targeting distribution of fruit plants, capacity building of local farmers in orchard management & nursery, kitchen gardening for women & girls, they were also provided with fruit plants to promote integrated crop and orchard management and distributing livestock and poultry birds followed by trainings in livestock farming, poultry raring and fodder management.
